Will Book 3, pg. 9 reads in part as follow;
I give to my son William Cardwell one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf two ewes and lanbs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son Wiltshire Cardwell one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf two ewes and lambs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son James Cardwell one cow and calf two ewes and lambs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son George Cardwell after the death of my wife the tract of land whereupon I now live, one feather bed and furniture one cow and calf two ewes and lambs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son Perrin Cardwell ten shillings to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my loving wife Keziah Cardwell the remainder part of my estate not willed to her during her natural life without any interruption. My will and desire is that after the death of my wife the estate lent to her shall be equally divided among my children, Thomas Cardwell, Martha Epperson, William Cardwell, James Cardwell, Wiltshire Cardwell, Lucy Cary, George Cardwell. To them and their heris forever it shall be divided at the discretion of executors. I do also appoint Thomas Cardwell, Wiltshire Cardwell, George Cardwell and Thomas Epperson to be executors of this my last will and testament as above mentioned in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year written.
