He appeared on the census of 1850 in the household of Delinda Boone; Philena Craig, age 21 and b. in NY, and her child, Seth Craig, who are shown in the household in this census have not been identified, however, Philena is probably the widow of Daniel Boone Craig who had recently died. Philena was born in New York and in the 1960 census she appears to be in Sagadahoc Co., Maine.

     Mortimer Craig was born on 1811 in VA. He married Ziller Ann Cardwell, daughter of Rev. Parrin (Paran) Cardwell and Mary Ann Ashby, on 8 April 1835 at Hopkins Co., KY.^1,2 In a disposition given 4 Dec 1835, Mortimer named children of Alexander Major, deceased.
     Mortimer Craig appeared on the census of 1840 in Hopkins Co., KY, which includes the following information: males: (2) less than 5 (Perrin and William), (2) 20-30 (Mortimer and ?); females (1) 20-30 (Ziller Ann). He appeared in the census of July 1850 (101/101, age 39, farmer, $600, b. Va.) District No. 2, Hopkins Co., KY. There is an Indenture in in Grayson Co., TX, on 15 August 1856 where S.B. and Elizabeth J. Savage sell about 200 acres to Mortimer for $1150.³ He left a will which ⁴ names wife Gellah Ann and appoints her administrator and to care for their minor children. He died on 1859 in Grayson Co., TX.

She married Mortimer Craig, son of Samuel Craig and Mary Hughes, on 8 April 1835 at Hopkins Co., KY.^1,2 Ziller Ann Cardwell appeared on the census of July 1850 in the household of Mortimer Craig; 101/101, age 39, farmer, $600, b. Va. Ziller Ann Cardwell was mentioned in the will of her father, Rev. Parrin Cardwell on 18 April 1868 at Hopkins Co., KY. She appeared in the census of 1870 (farming, 1000/1000, and listed as Zilla, head of household.) Kentucky Town (PO), Grayson Co., TX. She appeared on the census of 26 June 1880 in the household of William M. Craig.

     Rev. Parrin (Paran) Cardwell was employed at Methodist Minister. He was buried in Providence Methodist Cemetery, Hopkins Co., KY. He was born circa 1793 in VA. About 1807, Rev. Parrin (Paran) Cardwell Moved to Hopkins Co., KY.² He married Mary Ann Ashby, daughter of Stephen Ashby, on 6 December 1814 at Hopkins Co., KY. Rev. He appeared in the census of 1850 (farmer, $538) Hopkins Co., KY. He appeared in the census of 1860 (65, farmer, $1800-$1000) Hopkins Co., KY. Will written and dated 18 May 1868, probated 5 Oct 1872 in Hopkins County. In it, he said that he had already given to his children when they married about an equal protio of his estate. He had already given to his daughter, Indiana Washington $140, and that he had already gien to his daughter, Ziller Ann Craig $500; these two daughters were to receive no more. The balance of his estate was to be equally divided betwen his daughters, Emily Branson and Nancy Ashby heirs, Mary Timmons and Parasada Wilkenson. His son-in-law, James W. Branson was to be the executor. No sons were named in the will, and according to the listings of the census records, no sons have been found. (Book 12, pg. 151).
