Allison Posey was born on Friday, 4 September 1744
Charles Co., MD. He was the son of
Benjamin Posey and
Patience Bateman. Allison Posey married
Mary Kent, daughter of
Robert Kent and
Mary (?). Allison Posey appeared in the census of 1779 (8 white soles, 1 dwelling, 1 other building). He left a will on 7 August 1785 at
Halifax Co., VA, which named ".. being sick & week of body...". To my loving wife Mary Posey my whole estate consisting of negroes, horses, cattle & all my stock, household furniture, the tract of land & plantation whereon we now live & evey part of my estate that I at present enjoy or possess (excepting a negro by named Harry) unto my sd wife during her natural life or widowhood & at her marriage or decease it is to be divided as follows: to my son Harrison Posey one negro by named Harry to him & his heirs forever, & whereas I have at present three negro women who perhaps may have children to make the rest of my childrens esatate equivalent with my son Harrison in respect of the negro boy bequeathed him. I desire the rest of children may have an estate equal to my said mentioned son provided my afores'd wenches breed sufficient & if their estate comes equal to his when they come of age. I desire my whole estate may be divided between my children hereafter anmed Viz.t, Alexander, Jesse, Benjamin, Molley Easley, Rebecca, Nancy, Harrison & Robert to them & their heirs forever. If my sd wife should marry or decease before my children come of age my negroes are to be hired out & the money arising be used for the bringing up & educating my children. If any of the children die without heir their part to be equally divided between the living children.
