Marcellus Adkins a prominent citizen of Greenville, died of complications at 7:45 o'clock Satureay evening, March 19, at his home on Cherry Street, Greenville, following an illness of only a few days.
Mr. Adkins was born in May 1853, in Muhlenberg county, the son of S. N. and Lucenda Belle Adkins. In early manhood he married Harriet Ititia Wickliffe .............to whom were born four children, one son, Mr. Forest Adkins, and theree daughters, Mrs. W. P. Taggart of Cannon City, Colorado; Mrs. L. P. Moore, of this city and Mrs. Will Fowler of Paducah, all of whome survive him. He is also survived by his widow, two brothers, Mr. Neter Adkins and R. M. Adkins of Depoy, and two sisters, Mrs. Alvin Lovell of Central City, and Mrs. Lucien Lovell of Greenville, and three grand-children, Mrs. Joseph Martin, Miss Lucile Moore, and L. P. Moore, Jr.
The deceased was a member of the Greenville Baptist church, where the funeral services were held last Monday afternoon, having been conducted by his pastor, Rev. Summers, assisted by Rev. B. McCurrie, pastor of the Methodist church.
The following friends acted as pallbearers: Messers, T. C. Baird, T. O. Jones, D. O. Kemmel, John McCellah and Figeley.
