Hold Final Rites For Esteemed Plymouth Man Tuesday P.M; In Memoriam
Clyde E. Aleshire, 77, esteemed resident of Plymouth, was called to final rest Sunday in Memorial Hospital, Carthage. He had entered the hospital Wednesday of last week, after suffering a hip fracture in a fall at his home.
Final Rites Tuesday
Final rites were held Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. from the Cookson Funeral Home in Plymouth, The Rev. Robert Shobe, minister of the First Baptist church officiating. The services were attended by many loved and friends and the floral tributes were beautiful.
Mrs. Aaron Chronister sang " Nearer My God to Thee ", " Under His Wings " and "Sometime Soon ", accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Fred Young.
Internment was in Rosemont cemetery in Plymouth. Casketbearers were Glenn Aleshire, Paul Aleshire, James Dunn, Thad Clark, Duane McKee and Glen Aleshire, the latter a grandson.
In Memoriam
Clyde E. Aleshire, first born child of the late Charles and Annetta Veach Aleshire, was born Oct. 30, 1888 about 4 miles southeast of Carthage Ill. He was the oldest living member of the Douglas and Matilda Beavers Aleshire generation. The Aleshires were a well established family who contributed largely to the history making of Hancock county.
Clyde attended the Hickory Flat and Providence grade schools and also attended Carthage Academy. In 1907 he graduated from Plymouth High School as valedictorian of his class. While a student at Knox college he gained the recognition of faculty members by his unusual ability in the field of mathematics.
He was happily united in marriage to Miss Nellie Wade in Galesburg, Ill, June 8, 1910. They established their first home on a farm north of Plymouth. Later they purchased a farm near Mendon, Ill to which they moved. After deciding to engage in the insurance business they purchased a home in Camp Point and later a home in Clayton. While living in Clayton, Mr. Aleshire was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and held several offices. He was also active in political circles and for many years served as precinct committeeman. He was firm in his convictions and always enjoyed a good political argument.1 He was buried in Rosemont Cemetery, Plymouth, IL.1
