9th inst., Wm. Armstrong, at the age of 52 years, 3 months and 16 days. Mr. Armstrong
emigrated to Texas in February, in 1841; - In 1842 was elected ditrict Surveyor in the county of
Jefferson; In 1847, was appointed deputy Surveyor in said district, and other districts of this
State much of his time since. He served faithfully in the late war between the United States
and Mexico, and in the armies of the South, in the war between the Confederacy and United
States. Col. Armstrong died from the effects of a chronic disease brought on b cruel exposure,
while a prisoner in the hands of Federal authorities. And thus one by one, the faithful
followers of the stars and bars, pass away to their long homes; but the memory of their gallant
deeds and noble self sacrificing devotion to their country, will be dealy cherished to the latest

     Mary Sonic Nechard was born on 1823 Lower Chehalis, Washington Territory.1 She was the daughter of Wakan Nechard and Olataxule (?).1 Mary Sonic Nechard married 2nd, Benjamin Charles Armstrong, son of William Armstrong and Mary Cavins.1 Mary Sonic Nechard died on 1893.1 She was buried in Pioneer Cemetery, Bay Center, WA.
