He married Keziah Lowe, daughter of Thomas Lowe, circa 1742 at Goochland Co., VA.² John Cardwell died on Sunday, 19 July 1795 Prince Edward Co., VA.² He left a will on 21 December 1795 at Book 3, pg. 9, Prince Edward Co., VA, which named His will dated 18 July 1795, proved in Prince Edward County 21 Dec 1795,
Will Book 3, pg. 9 reads in part as follow;
I give to my son William Cardwell one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf two ewes and lanbs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son Wiltshire Cardwell one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf two ewes and lambs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son James Cardwell one cow and calf two ewes and lambs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son George Cardwell after the death of my wife the tract of land whereupon I now live, one feather bed and furniture one cow and calf two ewes and lambs to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my son Perrin Cardwell ten shillings to him and his heirs forever Item - I give to my loving wife Keziah Cardwell the remainder part of my estate not willed to her during her natural life without any interruption. My will and desire is that after the death of my wife the estate lent to her shall be equally divided among my children, Thomas Cardwell, Martha Epperson, William Cardwell, James Cardwell, Wiltshire Cardwell, Lucy Cary, George Cardwell. To them and their heris forever it shall be divided at the discretion of executors. I do also appoint Thomas Cardwell, Wiltshire Cardwell, George Cardwell and Thomas Epperson to be executors of this my last will and testament as above mentioned in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year written.      John R. Cardwell began military service at Lt., War of 1812. He was born circa 1774 in VA. He married Annie McAfee, daughter of Robert McAfee and Anne McCoun, on 18 August 1795 at in Mercer Co., KY. John R. Cardwell married Mary 'Polly' Driskill, daughter of Timothy Driskill and Priscilla (?), on 18 September 1810 at in Mercer Co., KY. John R. Cardwell married Elizabeth Riggs on 4 November 1817 at in Franklin Co., KY. John R. Cardwell died circa 1829 Anderson Co., KY.

     Annie McAfee married John R. Cardwell, son of John Cardwell Jr. and Celler Rice, on 18 August 1795 at in Mercer Co., KY.

     Mary 'Polly' Driskill married John R. Cardwell, son of John Cardwell Jr. and Celler Rice, on 18 September 1810 at in Mercer Co., KY. Mary 'Polly' Driskill died on 1817.

     Robert McAfee married Anne McCoun.

     Austin Bounds Ashby married Elizabeth Ann Cardwell, daughter of John Cardwell Jr. and Celler Rice.

She appeared on the census of 1850 in the household of Thomas Cardwell.¹ Catharine McGary died on Thursday, 17 July 1851 Hopkins Co., KY, at age 63.² She was buried in in Grapevine Cemetery, Hopkins Co., KY.²

     Evelyn (?) married Thetis S. Holtsclaw, son of Enoch Holtsclaw and Grace Lovelace Craig, This was the second marriage for T.S. Holtsclaw.

     Nancy Egbert was born on December 1791 KY. She married James R. Cardwell, son of John Cardwell Jr. and Celler Rice, on 3 January 1815 at in Franklin Co., KY.^1,2 Nancy Egbert appeared on the census of 1850 in the household of James R. Cardwell.² Nancy Egbert died on Sunday, 29 January 1882 KY at age 90. She was buried in Grapevine Cemetery, Madisonville, Hopkins Co., KY.
